- Question
1
Partner's opened 1 Heart, so great we've got a Major fit. Even though we've only got 8HCP, our losing trick count is 6 (if you take the AJ10x as equivalent to AQx), so game is more than likely.
What to bid?
1). 2C
2). 3C
3). 3H
4). 3S
5). 4H
6). 4NT
7). 5H

Answer
2). 3C.
A 'jump-fit' is the best bid, otherwise your partner will never find out about your extraordinary diamonds. A Spade splinter might be opposite a strong suit in partner's hand, and thus wasted. A 4H bid might be passed, and a slam opportunity lost.
- Question
2
When your partner comes back with a diamond cue-bid, you can then confirm that your club bid was a 'jump-fit', not a 'jump-shift', by not repeating the club suit.
Since he's given you a cue-bid, it looks as if Slam might be on.
So what will you bid next?

Answer
Bid Spades - to tell partner about your control of Spades. He can then decide if he knows enough and bid slam, or bid Blackwood if he feels he needs a bit more key-card protection.
