- Question
1
Should North overcall with his 6-card suit and 11-HCP hand??
Answer
No. North's Diamonds are certainly long enough, but they are weak. For defensive play they would be a poor lead from your partner.
You'd much rather have a Spade lead. But all you can do is hope, rather than mislead.

2
What would happen if your partner led the King of diamonds to you, as a result of a diamonds overcall from you?
- Question
2
What would happen if your partner led the King of diamonds to you, as a result of a diamonds overcall from you?
Answer
The enemy will thank you, as they make their contract plus overtricks!
If you'd passed, instead of overcalling, your partner would probably have led his 4th highest from his longest suit - promising one or 2 honours. His longest suit is indeed Spades, and you'd have got them down. Silence is sometimes the wisest thing.
