( 6 ). 4 Spades
K Q 8 6 4
3
J 8 7 6
4 3 2

You might think that with 6 points you should raise to 2 Spades. Or, with your losing trick count of 8, you should raise to 3 Spades.
But when supporting partner's Major, especially when weak, it's better to go down a bit than to let the opponents make a game/big score.
So if you have weak support (<11pts) BUT
a 5-card suit, and
a singleton:
then go straight for Game and bid 4 Spades. With the long trumps and the singleton, either you're going to make it, or prevent the enemy from getting to 4 Hearts.
